Meredith McMaster Millinery's Do's and Dont's for the Spring Carnival

Brisbane milliner Meredith McMaster laid down her Spring Racing Do's and Dont's for Grazia Australia Online. Here they are below:

Meredith says match-matchy is old fashioned. "Remember it's about a head-to-toe look. You don't necessarily have to match your hat with your handbag and your shoes, but ensure all the elements work together harmoniously," says McMaster.

Meredith McMaster weighs in on the fascinator debate. "Fascinators are fine, but sprigs of fluffy chook feathers are definitely not okay. Look for a sculptural headpiece like Lara's instead," says McMaster.

Meredith McMaster on neon "A neon-hued headpiece is the hot look this spring, but keep it classy by ensuring the rest of your outfit does not compete with your bold statement," McMaster advises.
What is Meredith's fundamental rule for spring headwear? "No felt in any season other than winter. Look for a straw or sinamay hat for spring racing."

Meredith McMaster knows a thing or two about Fashion's on the Field. "If you're entering Fashion's on the Field, you won't get far without decent headwear. Invest in a proper hat and think about incorporating gloves. Check out the rules at your local race club as they differ in each state."
